This is Aiswarya, blogging to you about why you should attend the CLF at UMass Lowell in early February.
1. Want to brush up your leadership skills and gain new ways to rise to a SWE position over your college career? Attend.
2. Want to network with other collegiates before the Regional Conference? Attend.
3. Go to school in the Boston-area and spending less than an hour or two to travel to UMass Lowell? Seriously, attend.

Allison, Ellen, Poorva, and I attended the CLF in Austin, Texas over the summer with other regional collegiate leaders. We got to meet top SWE Board Members and leaders (incl. President Melissa Tata) and networked with them. We bonded with our RCT and created communication networks, coordinated activities/awards that we’re giving out, and got organized for the WE11 Conference and MIT Regional Conference where we present to all of the Sections. Finally, we got to stay in a 5-star hotel for 3 nights, and got an awesome conference, and tour of the unique city of Austin.
We mingled with other RCRs and RCCEs from around the country (many of whom I saw again at the WE11 conference) and had leadership seminars and got trained with leadership activities. It really inspired me to get our RCT reaching out to communicate with all of the Sections. And for the Olin section, we really got the ball rolling with ideation over the summer.
To all of you girls out there that want to try for leadership positions in SWE and make your way up to possibly becoming a National Leader when you are out of college, this is the first step to take. You’ll get exposed to the different Leadership roles in the Region and you’ll be given the tools to become a better leader in your SWE, academic, and personal life.
Please encourage your Section members to attend! Following that, is the Regional Conference at MIT. Don’t miss out on either.
